Wasn't That Long Ago That We Were Sitting Atop The Termite Mound(Much As Chimpanzees Do Now) Using Our First Tools(Sticks) To Gather Our Lunch.............Not Long After That, Not Long At All As Time Goes, We Were Carving These Neat Little Fat Fertility Figures From Rock(And Other Materials No Doubt--Perishable Ones).........Then Cave Paintings, Rock Paintings Depicting The Hunt, Spirit And No Doubt Sex In There Somewhere...............And Very, Very Shortly After That, Today, And Basically The Same Processes Though In A More Developed(In Some Cases) Technological Form......Yet All Of Those Prehistoric Forms We View As "Primitive" Are just As Much A Part Of Today's Art As Many Of The Multi-Cultural Techniques Passed Down Through The Ages.......Their Influence And Their Energy, Thought, Idea Reflect The Very Heart Of Nature And Creation--Evolution...........Things Evolve, Art Evolves............And............If They Don't, They Cease To Exist As Entities Unto Themselves Though The Usable Attributes Are Incorporated Into The Fabric Of The Flow Of The Whole..........It Is One Great Big, Small Universe(S) And We Are Directly Connected To It For A Period Of, Yes, Our Choosing........We Have The Intelligence To Foresee Our Future And Our Continued Survival...............So Why Don't We Use That Intelligence In A Rather Grand Fashion?

To This Planet In Our Treatment Of It One Must Really Consider The Evolution Of And Continuance Of Art If, As Is Wholly Possible, Our Species Ceased Existence..........(What A Cheery Thought!)............What Will Happen To All The "Greatness" That We Have Exemplified As A Species?..........Past And Present "Masters" Who Through Creation Contributed So Much To The Development Of Our Lives And Our Cultures--(Too Few Of Them Obviously)--A Shame We Cannot Truly Say We Are What We Are Today Because Of Them............We Would Be An Entirely Different Species, Cooperating, Sharing, Giving, Creating Were This The Case............No, There Is Another Side To Us That Is Very Hard To Fathom But Will Touch Lightly Here On The Sinister Side Of Human(It Exist And Everyone Is Aware Of It But Do Little About It).........It Is Of Course That Side Of Us That We Must Lose If We Are To Continue Our Habitation.............But Never Fear............With Us, Without Us, Art Is Not Dead........Creation, Creativity Is Energy And That Energy Simply Becomes Part Of Nature's Fabric To Be Used, Yes, Wisely In The Evolution Of A Very Natural Consciousness(Unconsciousness Too!)....Is Such The Thought Of A Hopeful Lunatic?...........Perhaps The Lunatic Part Is Correct But The Fact, Yes, Fact Is That If One Spends Time In Nature(And Not The Occassional Seaside Or Mountain Resort Visit) And A Lot Of Time, A Very Strong Connection Will Express Itself In Short Order And A Truly Remarkable Dialogue Will Manifest Itself In Very Simple, Natural Form................Harmony, Order, "One", And All That Other Stuff Become A Natural Part Of One's Life And One Learns Through This Connection That Evolution Of Thought And Energy Become Separate Entities Unto Themselves, Entering The Stream Of The Natural Flow And Used In Manners And Ways That Move Further And Further Away From Our Perceptions As We Move Further And Further Apart From Nature.............Our Evolutionary Stuff Is Being Used In Numerous And Remarkable Ways In Our Dimension As Well As Others(In Nature All Dimensions Would Be One--I Think) With The Arts Being Our Crowning Achievement As A Species.........How Will That Art Be Used If We Cease Existence?.........Perhaps By The Species That Fills Our Niche.........Perhaps By A Species In Another Place, Another Time, But Certainly It Will Find Its' Way Into The Fabric Of Creative Nature........It Will Be Used!

I Think The Current State Of The Arts(Rather Abyssmal Actually) Reflects This Miasmic Uneasiness We Have With Our Tenure On This Planet........Exhibitions On Disease, Hunger, Holocaust, Environmental Disaster, Death--Installations Dealing With A Multitude Of Issues With Few Answers--Environmental Art Attempting To Deal With Place, Space, Species, Etc.--Much Self Centered "Who Am I" Or "I Am" At The Expo's Out There, Gaining Space And Attention For No Particular Real Purpose--Much Redundancy, Beating The Same Old Themes To Death, Unable To Escape Their Own Myopic Gravity................Some Would Say A State Of Flux......Perhaps More Would Say A State Of Confusion...........And.............Perhaps Even A State Of Hopelessness In Some Instances............A Dynamic, Fluid, Moving, Evolving Process Could Easily Return To The Arts If We Would But Listen To That Natural Source That Permeates Every Cell Of Our Being.................Unfortunately, We Insist On Ignoring It And Go About Our Egocentric Ways As If We Own The Universe.......................Actually, We Are Pretty Damned Insignificant In The Grand Scheme Of Things..........And, If We View Ourselves Apart From Nature, We Are Totally Insignificant.............We Are No Lesser Than, No Greater Than, Any Other Entity In This Universe.........We, The Whole, Everything, Are Equal, Connected, One..............One Digresses.......Art..........How Do We Allow It To Regain Lyrical Momentum.................Flowing In Many Vast Creative Directions At Once?..............How Do We Allow It To Speak Eloquently For Us As A Species?................And Turn That Eloquence Into Constructive Planetary Action That Will Insure Continuance Of A Vital Species(Us)?.........Obviously, We Must Accept And Acknowledge Our Connection To Source, To Nature, And Act, React Accordingly And With A Great Deal Of Responsibility....In Short, We Must Do The Right Thing............The Arts Will Show It........And Rapidly..............And When That Happens, So Too, Will The Planet, The Species
